60th Anniversary

This was probably our 5th or 6th time to visit Bruern. This time was to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. We stayed in Cope Cottage, which is a unique, warm and cosy old mill conversion. It is perfect for 2 and is so well appointed, there is nothing lacking to make your stay perfect.

WEIR HOUSE: A HOLIDAY IN ITSELF

“We are an Australian family who choose the UK for our main holiday each year. We go to London and always have a week to ten days in the Cotswolds. This year we decided to have our first Christmas/ winter visit. We’ve stayed in many lovely homes throughout the Cotswolds, but this year we found Weir House at Bruern.

Relaxing retreat!

We love coming to Bruern holiday cottages and have stayed in Newmarket, Aintree, Shipton, Weir House, Goodwood and Cheltenham both with and without friends/family. The cottages are always, without exception, very clean and are very well equipped. There is much to do nearby – I recommend Sudeley Castle and Bourton on the Water in particular. Thank you for a wonderful time! We will definitely be coming back – Bruern is perfect for families and has the added bonus of being in England, so no long flights to get there!

Excellent as always

Bruern is always a favourite of our. I have been going with my family for a few years now, and it never fails to please.
There are 12 cottages in the complex, however, it never feels as if you are on top of the next cottage. Each is individually and beautifully decorated, by the owner herself and the staff are utterly charming.

A lovely holiday in beautiful surroundings!

Huge and elegantly furnished, Cope cottage was just as stunning as depicted online, with absolutely everything one would need to relax for a week, from the well-equipped kitchen to the beautiful fireplace – both great to come back to after a day out.

Amazing!

I have just returned with my family from the most fantastic break at Weir House, Bruern Cottages. It was booked to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary and my husbands 60th birthday and it certainly didn’t disappoint. There were 4 generations of our family aged from 18 months to 81 years old and we all had so much fun.

Wonderful Cotswolds getaway!

We stayed in Saratoga in July last year & had a wonderful week. It was perfect for us with our 2 young children- everything had been provided for the children bedding wise & they even each had a box of age appropriate toys in the living room. We made good use of the garden to the cottage & bbq & really appreciate the food hamper on arrival. The facilities in the grounds are great for children too & many a happy hour was spent in the play room & Wendy house. A thoroughly pleasant stay & we’ll definitely be visiting again!

A truly amazing place

We can honestly say that it has been one of our best trips for a while and we will be returning. We arrived to find Sandown centrally located with a lovely commanding view of the front lawn area and excellent patio area, leading to gardens to the rear. It is close to the swimming pool, gym and spa plus the Wendy house and kids room. The front room area is spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. The welcome pack really hit the spot. The cottage was decorated to a high standard and it all felt cosy. We loved the place.

It’s a great place for families but I could also see it working for couples too. We had a boisterous toddler with us and they loved every minute of our stay.

Amazing holiday for parents with toddlers

We just loved our 4 nights in Wychwood cottage. Packing was so much easier when toys, monitors, etc are provided and of course new toys are always more exciting for toddlers. The welcome pack was yummy with local bread, eggs and butter – a nice cake as well. We also found our little girl slept better in the cottage than at home!

The best part was the life size dollhouse and playroom. Once our two year old discovered those we were lucky to get back to our cottage for meal times! And she also loved the swimming pool. The villages and wildlife park nearby are also lovely and great days out. Overall our top holiday since we had our little girl.

Beyond child friendly

This place is beautiful, its a rare “child friendly” break that also feels luxurious for the adults. Stunning location, excellent quality accommodation, grown ups games room, lots to do in the area.

And for the toddlers – Everything you need, cots, exciting toy cupboard (huge selection) big garden/swing set and the best thing of all a play cabin – again filled with toys. Even the smallest details – plates/cutlery are taken care of.

Gorgeous setting, lovely pool, home from home

We stayed here for 3 nights – our family is 2 adults, and children aged 10 and 11. The house was so pretty, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen. We loved the swimming pool, the gardens and the pool. We would recommend this to our friends.

Hidden Gem

We loved our stay at Bruern and found it very hard to leave. The cottages have stunning interiors and come equipped with everything from luxury toiletries, board games, kitchen utensils to satisfy the best of chefs and more books than you could read in a lifetime. The gardens, setting, pool and huge variety of things to do in the area kept us very busy. In our minds the combination of space and the little touches such as the welcome basket and toy boxes sets Bruern way ahead of the top hotels in this stunning area, especially if you have young children. It is tempting not to write a review to keep this gem a hidden secret…

I really didn’t want to come home…

I loved our stay at Bruern (in Epsom)…one of the most relaxing, lovely holidays I’ve ever had. The place was beautiful as were the surroundings. The downside was having to leave… There’s a certain shabby chicness to the Bruern Cottage we stayed in and although it felt very chilly in there (even with sunshine outside) we had a lovely fire going most of the time.

Everything provided for you – the luxury end of self catering and although, where dressing gowns were concerned, my husband could barely get one arm into them (they were all very female-sized), I did enjoy watching him try! I can’t wait to go back to Bruern if I get the chance.

Long Awaited Return to Bruern

We recently returned to Bruern for our 10th visit after an absence of 9 years staying in Sandown for the first time. Bruern is very special to us as it was to my friend and law partner who took us there for our first visit in 1999. Our stay was as memorable as all of the others, and we found the cottage totally delightful. The attention to detail is amazing, and everything is done to make you feel totally welcome. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. The only downside is having to leave at the end of a wonderful stay.

LOVE BRUERN SO MUCH

Lovely relaxing break

Had a great family week here in lovely cottages in the old Bruern Abbey stables. Middle of the country so very peaceful and relaxing. Great amenities ie swimming pool, gym, games room and children’s play house. Great grounds for the kids to let off steam. Loads of places to visit within an easy drive in magnificent Cotswold countryside. Recommended for a relaxing family holiday.

Lovely, just lovely!

We stayed for a week at this lovely, out of the way, but easily accessible cottage accommodation in the Cotswolds. Located just outside of Burford and down a long, one lane road, the cottages are beautifully appointed and the staff are very accommodating. The welcome basket was just fabulous and a very nice touch. The grounds are equally entrancing.

Outstanding Family Holiday

We visited from Canada to have a holiday with our son and the grandchildren. Bruern Cottages was the perfect solution. We were extremely well looked after and all three generations had a wonderful time. Many thanks.

Pathway to heaven

Long long drive to get there from the cold North where winter is coming to a splendid little village in a delightful autumnal setting of gardens and laden fruit trees. With hardly anyone else there it was hard not to feel that it was all ours, comfy cottage, warm and well fitted if a little too nineties for modern decor lovers. This quiet retreat is perfect territory if you have lots of family who prefer their own space but love good company in the spacious gardens. The pool is devastatingly gorgeous warm and inviting after walks in the villages only slightly less brilliant than the Plough at Kingham where we had the best meal in ages.

Perfect Vacation Rental

We just finished a vacation rental at Weir House at Bruern Cottages. We stayed with one other family – so a total of 4 adults and 5 young kids (aged 2-7). The setup worked perfectly, with two separate accommodation areas (one wing with 3 beds and then the upstairs with 2 beds).

Really top class cottages

We had a superb time here as a family of 5. The cottage couldn’t have been better from the decor, furnishings, cleanliness, welcome ‘pack’ to the setting. The on-site facilities are spot on and we all enjoyed the swimming pool and games room and the youngest (3) loved the kids playground. We will be back!

Simply Wonderful

Bruern Cottages can be described in many ways but 2 words that quickly came to mind were, “simply wonderful”!

It is truly an amazing place overall. Chipping Norton is not only loaded with so much to keep you busy but after a long day, running from one attraction or town or AONB(area of outstanding natural beauty) to another, you get to come back Home. The overall feel of the cottage was like coming back to a comfortable and cozy flat. From the snug furniture, the decor, the superb lighting, as well as a spacious backyard, everything felt a little more than just any holiday.

Of all 7 cottages we stayed throughout our 2 months across London and the South of England, Bruern was by far the nicest and most superior. I would recommend Bruern for couples, friends getting together or for an entire family. You won’t be let down!

So much better than a hotel!

We first came to. Bruern in 2002 and now are addicted! Wonderful location with access to so many attractions. Cottages are superb with everything you could possibly need for a five star holiday. Friendly staff, luxury accommodation at a very reasonable tariff. Highly recommend. We stayed in Sandown cottage on this most recent visit and there was nothing more we could have asked for. Will be returning soon.

September 2017
Splendid!

We have just left here and are sorry to do so. This is a special place for a family or couples holiday. There is so much for young children to enjoy and the pool is delightful. The accommodation is luxurious and a home from home – we loved every minute. Great location. Away from hustle and bustle but on the doorstep of so many beauty spots. Bikes were a treat for exploring round about. A gorgeous, gorgeous place!

July 2017
What a stunner!

We have just returned from 12 nights in Weir House, one of the facilities for hire at Bruern.
Nine of us, including seven US visitors met up for a reunion celebration.
Everything we had been looking forward to was exceeded by the reality!
Every room was delightfully fitted out with beautiful fittings, tasteful furnishings and the bathrooms were equipped with all we needed.
