10 reasons why the Cotswolds should be your next weekend getaway

Where best to stay in the Cotswolds than a truly English cottage in the countryside?

I stayed at the beautiful Bruern Cottages, in a two-bedroom self-catering cottage called Wychwood, which is perfect for a family-of-four.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a basket of locally produced food, which was definitely one of the highlights of my stay.

The 12 luxury cottages, recently awarded EnjoyEngland’s Gold Award for quality, are all equipped with everything you could possibly need.

A two-night weekend break in one of the smaller cottages starts from £996.

In my welcome basket, I received eggs from Cackleberry Farm, milk from Homleigh Dairy, Godsell’s Gloucester cheese and Paddock Farm sausages and bacon.

Also awaiting us on the dining table was a homemade lemon cake from The Tea Set restaurant in Chipping Norton, which was incredible.

Everything really does taste so much better when it’s fresh.
