“You just won’t believe no one has told you about these gorgeous self-catering cottages before. When you need to allow pent-up children to run free, they deliver just what you want (especially if you don’t already live in the countryside). Impeccably decorated (thick curtains, sink-in-squidgy sofas), with raging fires, private gardens with barbecues, kitchens with all the latest gizmos, as well as welcoming packs of mighty bacon and tempting afternoon cakes. There’s a comprehensive spa, an excellent gym and a lovely indoor pool. Bikes, books, tennis and takeaways are all yours. You can go with other families and still retain your privacy. Clever. The smallest get-ups are for couples and the largest sleeps 10.”
