The  garden is looking a dream. Last summer the Tourism Council inspector gave it 100% and 100% is not a mark they dish out lightly. It has all matured: the thousands of bulbs we plant every autumn make spring a thing of glory, and now the roses twine over our heads, and the yews in the Colonnade in the Walled Garden are just about to join together in the arches I envisaged when I planted them two feet high eight years ago. Thanks to all the yew hedging and box topiary, it manages to look good even in the depths of winter, and in summer it's breathtaking. Hardly worth trekking off to Kiftsgate, Hidcote and Snowshill with such a paradise on the doorstep.
